St. Mark's
"Church in the Park"

June 5, 2005

St. Mark celebrated its seventh annual "Church in the Park" on Sunday, June 5th, at Murphy Park in Sunnyvale.

God blessed the 120+ people who attended with a beautiful spring morning, a perfect setting to worship our Creator.

Pastor's message was "Look Who's Coming to Dinner", based on Matthew 9:9-13, when Jesus was invited by Matthew the tax collector to have dinner with him.

Pastor Rod, with Trent portraying Jesus, noted that Jesus had fellowship with everyone, no matter their background. For the Jews, the tax collectors were held with little regard and so the church leaders had difficulties with Jesus eating with them.

Jesus states throughout the Gospels that he has come for all!

Service Highlights

Following the service, everyone was invited to a fantastic BBQ with all the fixin's.

For those wanting a quiet afternoon, the weather was perfect for pulling up a chair or a stretch of lawn to enjoy fellowship with others.

Pastor Rod reminded us during his message that God wants us to also have fun. Therefore, we should all take the time to play and to enjoy what God has provided.

With lunch completed, many took the opportunity to take part in a number of activities.
