St. Mark's 2002
Vacation Bible School
Highlights

God has blessed St. Mark's and the community's children for many years through their summer Vacation Bible School program.

Briefly, VBS is a Christian program to teach the word of God to children from Pre-School through 6th grade, with 7th and 8th graders serving as helpers. The program is presented through Bible study, crafts, singing and playing.

This year's theme was: Godzwerkus Circus School where the kids enjoyed learning about Jesus using a circus theme!

The theme Bible verse was: "With God all things are posssible. Matthew 19:26"

Each hands-on, interactive lesson in the 5-day program challenged kids to discover how God's promises keep them on course. This years lessons, which centered on a circus theme were:

Circus Act
Bible Verse and Story
Animal Keeper Vs Strongman 1 Samuel 17:1-51 -- David defeats Goliath
High-wire walker Judges 4:1-16 (4:17-5:31) -- Deborah judges with wisdom
Fire Juggler Daniel 3 -- Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego survive the fiery furnace
Clown Mark 10:46-52 -- Jesus gives Bartimaeus sight
Lion Tamer Acts 9:1-22 -- Ananias rescues Saul

Before VBS could be held, many hours were spent by numerous volunteers to prepare the Parish Hall and all the materials.

Each day the children shared in Bible stories, skits and songs.

In addition, the kids enjoyed making various crafts and artwork that were based on their Bible stories.

All work with no play wouldn't be a lot of fun, so the children enjoyed many daily games and snacks.

Play and Snack Highlights

For the first time, St. Mark held a block party for all the VBS participants and their families AND opened it to the entire community!

Finally, on Sunday, the worship was presented by the children and those that had performed in the skits throughout the week.
