St. Mark's 1999 Vacation Bible School

St. Mark has been blessed for many years with the opportunity to serve the youngsters of St. Mark and the community with the provision of a Vacation Bible School.

This year, the VBS theme, The Jungle Journedy: Exploring God's Promises taught kids from God's Word that "Nothing will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 8:39)

The following highlights are from this year's VBS program:

A major part of the VBS program is the study of God's Word, with some studies coming through skits the youth participated in. The following highlights the skits and its storyline:

Mark comes to visit Uncle Ray at a jungle research center and brings Quackers the parrot home. They follow N. DeAnna Jones, jungle guide, down the Promise Trail. She witnesses her faith that Jesus forgives sin and give faith to follow Him.

At lunch time the group discovers that Quackers has eaten all the food. As they eat local fare they learn that God provides for our needs in many different ways.

A dangerous water crossing challenges the group to trust each other and DeAnna. The Jaguar stalks them as they learn that God helps in times of trouble.

DeAnna scouts a sleeping place. Around the campfire, they talk about Jesus, the Promised One. Quackers realizes he is a parrot when he meets a bird like him.

The jaguar growls.DeAnna distracts the stalking jaguar so the group can run to the research station. Ray and the hikers search for her. Is she gone or will she return safely?

Although the Bible lessons, through the use of skits and stories, was the prime reason for bringing the children to VBS...

... the children are also given the opportunity to have further fun through crafts, that are related to the overall VBS theme.

St. Mark's VBS program is for children from pre-school through sixth grade, with older youth providing super help for the teachers.

This year St. Mark was blessed with 44 participating children.

In addition to the Bible studies and crafts, the children also enjoy some well deserved play time.

St. Mark offers many activities for all age groups, including Sunday worship, Bible class and Sunday School. For further information, call St. Mark at (408) 736-6605. In addition, you can find more information on our web site by clicking here!
