"Why do You Look for the Living
Among the Dead?"

Easter Sunday

April 8, 2007

“Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: 'The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.'” Luke 24:5-7

As with past Easters, the St. Mark youth provided an excellent breakfast, including egg casserole, fruit, coffee cake, cereal and different juices, all cooked to perfection.

Although in the case of these young men, they seem to be a little hesitant in what they are about to serve!

Although the food was fantastic, it can't match the fellowship that also occurs. One continually heard, "The Lord has risen", with the response, "He is risen indeed!" stated immediately afterwards! What a wonderful feeling to know that Christians have a risen Savior in heaven taking care of us!
After working hard on Saturday morning preparing the different foods and then arriving early to make sure everything was ready, these youth are taking a well deserved rest.
Following breakfast, the kids had the opportunity to work off their meal by hunting for easter eggs on the front lawn.
With several different age groups searching at different times, it was fun to watch their expectant eyes as they came outside and looked for the eggs.
The eggs were painted with crosses to remind the children what Easter was really about; the celebration of our Savior's resurrection.
Although most of the eggs were pretty easy to find, the adults had fun placing the eggs on telephone poles, the top of wall lights, even in one person's pant cuff! Even though the adults thought they were being clever, the kids found nearly all the "hidden" eggs. Great job kids!
After the breakfast and egg hunt, everyone went into church to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord.

"Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?”

The Gospel, from Luke, spoke of the arrival of the women to the empty tomb only to be asked by the angels, "Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen!"

What a thrilling message to be given on that early Easter morning.

Pastor Rod's message, "Total Victory...Utter Defeat!" spoke to our opportunity through Christ's death and resurrection, He has defeated Satan for all time and that through faith in Christ we can live eternally with Him in heaven

He is Risen!
He is Risen Indeed!
