St. Mark Outreach with
Sunnyvale Community Services
June 26, 2007
For the third time, St. Mark volunteered part of their evening to Sunnyvale Community Services to pack groceries for the next days distribution to local people in need.
For most, their needs are unexpected based on job loss, rent increases or other issues that cause hardship on their family.
SCS not only provides groceries to needy families but also runs programs for seniors and special summer programs for children who no longer have school meals due to the summer break.
Showing great teamwork, the assembly line process moved bag after bag through the line with increased efficiency as everyone perfected their task.
With 23 volunteers working hard, the job of packing 960 bags was completed in less than two hours! Looking over the floor, one SCS coordinator stated with a smile, "I didn't think we would be out of here this early!"
As the packing of the last ten bags counted down, the volunteers congratulated each other on a job well done. For this young man, a shout of joy could be heard as all the bags were surveyed!
St. Mark encourages all to seek opportunities to serve God in their community and to provide their time and talents to those less fortunate.
St. Mark offers many activities for all age groups, including Sunday worship, Bible class and Sunday School. If you would like more information, call St. Mark at (408) 736-6605 or read more information on our web site by clicking here!
