St. Mark Outreach with
Sunnyvale Community Services

May 30, 2006

On May 30th, thirty-one eager volunteers ranging from 3 to their 70's volunteered their evening to Sunnyvale Community Services to pack 825 bags of groceries for those less fortunate than us.

The 825 bags of groceries were then distributed to 400+ families and single people the following day.

For most, their needs are unexpected based on job loss, rent increases or other issues that cause hardship on their family.

SCS not only provides groceries to needy families but also runs programs for seniors and special summer programs for children who no longer have school meals due to the summer break.

Normally a 2.5+ hour job to complete, St. Mark completed the job in just under two hours, a record time according to the SCS coordinator!
With high-fives all around, St. Mark's volunteers celebrated the opportunity to serve our Lord through community outreach. Our church feels very blessed to be able to help this excellent organization.

St. Mark encourages all to seek opportunities to serve God in their community and to provide their time and talents to those less fortunate.
