St. Mark's Golden Anniversary Carnival
September 25, 1999

St. Mark officially kicked off a year of celebration for 50 years of serving God at their Sunnyvale and Arques location. God has greatly blessed St. Mark's ministry to spread the Good News of Christ's death and resurrection to save us from our sins and separation from God.

To celebrate its Golden Anniversary, St. Mark has planned a year of special events, with the Carnival being the first event. With a warmer than usual day, more than 150 members and their guests and many from the surrounding neighborhood, enjoyed good food, games and super fellowship.

With the sun sizzling above, St. Mark also had the BBQ doing the same as it prepared hot dogs at only 25 cents a piece! Along with all the extras, everyone enjoyed the dogs, brownies and other goodies!

Of course what would a hot day be without a cool glass of lemonade, which quenched everyone's thirst.

Although, Pastor Rod would politely argue the best drinks were his super deluxe root bear floats as prepared by Pastor himself!

Of course, what would a carnival be without some good old fashion cotton candy and a cake walk!

With the kids providing a lot of the help on the day, these two are showing good technique, with Bart supplying the high five!

For those not familiar with a cake walk, the participants walk in a circle while listening to the music. When the music stops, the walkers stop on the nearest number.

A number is then drawn from the hat and a cake goes to the one standing on the chosen number. With more than a dozen cakes to be won, everyone had a lot of chances to go home with a sweet look on their face!

Although the food was a good attraction, many enjoyed the games and crafts that were provided. St. Mark is blessed with many talented people who worked long, hard hours (details on the preparation) to create the multitude of games for people of all ages.

Kids were invited to make all sorts of small crafts that they could take home and share with others!

With great concentration, this young lady throws hard, to knock down the milk bottles to win a prize.

Finally, what would a carnival be without the prize booth where they can trade in their winning tickets for prizes!

With the ending of the 50th anniversary carnival, St. Mark is joyously looking forward to its one year celebration, which continues with its Pilgrim Dinner on November 14th.

In addition, St. Mark offers many activities for all age groups, including Sunday worship, Bible class and Sunday School. For further information, call St. Mark at (408) 736-6605. In addition, you can find more information on our web site by clicking here!
