Christmas at St. Mark is always a special time as we celebrate our Savior's birth.
St. Mark's month of December is highlighted by Advent dinners and worship, it's Living Nativity extravaganza, the Children's Christmas Service, a candlelight Christmas Eve and Christmas Day worship.
For many years, St. Mark has held an outdoor "living" nativity. Many members participated by dressing in the traditional dress for Mary, Joseph, Jesus, the Wiseman and the shepherds.
For 2001, St. Mark went even further by incorporating its puppet/drama ministry, along with Jubilant Grace, its praise band into a full production entitled, "Home for Christmas."
One of St. Mark's Christmas highlights is the Children's Sunday Worship, where the children lead the congregation in the Christmas story. This year, the theme was tied to the Living Nativity production.
Traditionally, the second Wednesday Advent service is highlighted by the "Hanging of the Greens."
This is when St. Mark decorates the church for the Christmas celebration.
Christmas Eve is a special time as the service ends with the congregation circling the sanctuary, with candles lit and all singing Silent Night, Holy Night. The occasion always brings a peace to all that participate.
